About
Community Loop St. Louis, an initiative of Mission: St. Louis, connects people with free assistance for home repairs. Projects are completed by ordinary people in their community who volunteer their time and resources.
Our mission is to connect people with one another so that they may develop autentic relationships, share resources, and build true community.
How does it work? The Community Loop St. Louis website has three primary functions: Project Posting (Request Assistance), Project Selection (View Projects), and Volunteer Sign-Up (Volunteer).
The Project Posting Site, located under "Request Assistance," is where you can post a project with which you or someone you know needs help. Once a project has been posted to the site, the Community Loop Captains will evaluate, construct (e.g., how many volunteers, and what tools and materials are needed, etc.) and select projects. Personal information about projects is not viewable to the general public; only trained Captains have access to project details. We encourage Captains to select projects that are assisting persons truly in need.
Once a project is selected, the Captain posts the project to the Community Loop St. Louis web page. Persons accessing the site can review the posted projects, and volunteer by signing up for a specific project, date and time, and if they so desire, may also donate tools or materials to the effort.
The Captain and the Volunteers meet at the project location at the scheduled time and complete the project--totally free of charge.
What's the catch? There is no catch. We hope that people tolearn from and serve one another other while developing real, life-giving, dignity-affirming community. There are no strings attached.
